| 1. As the weather warms, clear your beds of that layer of protective mulch. |
| 2. If march is kind to us, you can plant those spring bulbs for summer blooms.
If it's still cold, wait til april. |
| 3. Some trees and shrubs can be planted now, along with bare- root roses. |
| 4. If you're looking to add to your flowering tree collection, shop for them
now while they're in bloom, to get a good idea of what
you're getting. Check with your friendly advisor at Swan
Lake Nurseryland to see what's available for viewing. |
| 5. Rake and edge lawns, weather permitting. |
| 6. If you're planning to paint fences, do it now before you plant, and
inevitably have to move, new perennials or annual beds.
While you're out there, clean up perennial beds and apply
slow-release fertilizer, like van bloem's plant food
for perennials, 12-12-9, available at Swan Lake,
of course. |
| 7. If you're thinking about it, now would be the time to install drip or other
irrigation systems. |
| 8. Clean up flower beds and get patio containers ready for planting up. |
| 9. Water and fertilize lawns and bulbs. |
| 10. Sow vegetables - spinach, lettuce, carrots, parsnips, peas, broad beans, radishes. |
| 11. Weather permitting, start to uncover roses, tender perennials and other more
delicate plants. |
